One, Microgrids
In the emerging electricity industry, there are at least two revolutions occurring today
- Microgrids, and
- ASSMs – Applications Specific Scalable Microgrids
The microgrids revolution is well recognized. For example, see International Microgrid Symposium, and Microgrid Knowledge.
The second revolution is ASSM, or Application Specific Scalable Microgrids. BHAVE Power Systems’ cooking business is an instance of ASSM.
Instead of measuring the benefit or output in kWh, as traditionally done, what is measured is the benefit delivered in human terms. For example, meals cooked, lumens output, liters of water pumped, time to full charge, and so on.
Walt Patterson, Chatham House, London has written persuasively about such benefits of electricity instead of kWh. With BHAVE Power Systems, we measure meals cooked, and not kWh at all.
Two, ASSMs – Application Specific Scalable Microgrids
This is new, as yet unrecognized. Mahesh BHAVE presented on it at Microgrid Symposium, Bucharest, 2018. It generated considerate interest among the attendees. He illustrated cooking focused ASSM.
